Why do I need to register my team?
All teams in Northern California must be registered with their Regional Science Olympiad in
order to participate in any Science Olympiad Tournaments (Invitational, Regional, State,
or National).
What is needed for registration?
Team registration is completed when the following four items are completed. A team's
spot is not guaranteed until registration is completed.

Registration Dates
Each year, Registration opens the Tuesday after Labor Day. The deadline for registration
is 11:59 PM on December 2nd, or until all spots at the Regional site fills up, whichever
comes first. Individual Regionals may accept additional team registrations after the
deadline if logistics permit.
Which Regional can I go to?
Teams participating in Science Olympiad in Northern California must participate in a
Regional within their county. In the case that the county which the school resides in
does not have a Science Olympiad Regional Program, they may participate in a Regional
Tournament with the permission of the Regional Director of that tournament and the State
Director.
How many teams can a school have?
If a team wishes to compete at an Invitational Tournament, it is required to compete in
the Regional Tournament. The only exception is if the number of registered teams from
the school exceeds the maximum number of teams per school allowed at that Regional
Tournament. Even if the number of registered teams from the school exceeds the maximum
number of teams per school allowed at the Regional or state Tournament, a school cannot
have any of its teams participating at an Invitational Tournament on the same day as
their Regional or State Tournament.
Note: For the 2024-2025 Season, there is a limit of 1 team per school to compete at the Orange County Regional Tournament. There is no limit to the number of teams from each school competing at other Regionals.

What is our information used for?
In order for the State and National Science Olympiad Program to track membership and
school participation over time, all team registration data will be collected using a
method that will provide real time updated information for the Regional planning team
with minimal changes to the method schools register (by going to the Regional web page)
while allowing the State Program to track membership information, to be shared with the
Science Olympiad officials and only used in furtherance of promoting and improving the
program.
